Founded as an artist retreat for Los Angeles arts organizations in the early 1930's, Dorland Mountain Arts was a secluded colony in the Temecula desert visited by many influential West-coast thinkers and artists of the 20th century. In 2005 wildfire destroyed over 70% of the compound in a devastating loss. These images were commission by the foundation in 2005 and again in 2015 on the 10th anniversary of the wildfire. Today the colony has been completely rebuilt and is experiencing a thriving rebirth for the 21st century.
